Most of us stick to the campus area where we have lectures or some other legitimate errand, leaving the rest of the university an unchartered territory teeming with undiscovered installations and quirky sculptures. Here, we take a quick look at some of the permanent fixtures and temporary student exhibits which comprise the alternately solemn and whimsical world of campus art.

Where the art is

Rushing to your lecture hall at 13 minutes past the hour with a steaming latte cup in hand, the rich variety of artistic offerings at the University of Copenhagen campuses may well have escaped your notice.

The works of art on display on campus a somewhat overlooked aspect of the University environment, blending into the background as, quite literally, part of the furniture.

Glitzy guerilla dining

During fashion week, international student Tiffany Ng’s company Silver Spoon took over a 400-year old two-floor house to stage a guerilla dining event. Showcasing upcoming models, designers, photographers and DJ’s, Tiffany pulled off 3 courses for a mere DKK 225 including cocktails.

As a guerrilla dining event maker, she takes over empty spaces such as a garage or a cultural centre and turns them into a restaurant for a single event.

See photos from the event here.

Fashion and fine dining on four hours sleep

While some international students struggle to meet even just a few Danes during their stay in Copenhagen, Tiffany Ng from San Francisco, USA, has managed to network her way into top fashion and entertainment circles.

But life for this full-degree student is not just a round of high-society cocktail parties.

Tiffany has found time to start her own dining and event business alongside full-time studies at the demanding elite Master’s programme in International Law, Economics and Management.

´Whacking the barrel´ for Fastelavn

Students at the party on Sunday, February 14 had the chance to eat fastelavnsboller and make masks and branch bundles of fertility at the party's start. As the night went on, everyone took turns whacking the cat barrel full of candy until a Cat Queen and Cat King were crowned.

The event was put on by the Erasmus Student Network.

If you missed out on the fun, live vicariously through those who participated by going to our gallery here.
