The annual 'Day of Research' is about making science accessible to everyone. Booths are put up on Vor Frue Plads to attract curious visitors and potential university students to touch and feel the newest buzz in science. Curiosities such as liquid Nitrogen and octopusses attract people and students to the event.
However, at the official opening Thurday April 19 2012 a special visitor stole the show.
HRH Crown Princess Mary, who is prorector of the event, visited the official opening ceremony of 'The Day of Research' 2012 to present a prize and take a tour of the booths. She attracted both students and royalists and created a discussion both about the science in the booths, but also about her outfit.
As two biochemistry students standing in the crowd commented: »She is definitely wearing Lauboutin heels. You see, their soles are red«.
Other guests at the opening were Minister of Education Morten Østergaard, Dean of University of Copenhagen Ralf Hemmingsen and other Univeristy of Copenhagen VIPs. University Post captured the event in this gallery. Click the first photo to take a tour.
