The University Post is exclusively relaying pictures and comments from her photo-a-day blog '25x7', documenting her stay in Copenhagen. Sarah has explored Danish culture more thoroughly than most Danes, and is not only a good photographer, but also has considerable sushi-making skills.

Preview: Majestic folk music at Studenterhuset

The student bar Studenterhuset is no longer just a secret place for international students in Copenhagen: The student card gives free access every Wednesday evening to the International Nights, mostly for international students, where a resident DJ juggles with current commercial hits, and types of music you can easily dance to.

However, the student bar also hosts numerous concerts with artists more or less renowned from pop, rock and folk. Thursday 2 February, the English singer-songwriter Simon Finn will honour us with his presence for only DKK 80.

It is that interesting. Ankit Khandelwal’s particular take on Denmark has resulted in a nomination for the top 100 of the world’s ‘Exchange and Experience blog 2012’, organised by bab.la, a language portal.

Ankit has just finished his Master's in chemical and biochemical engineering. In his blog, he observes captivating things about Danish daily life.

The bloggers nominated are high-school and university students doing an exchange, au-pairs, expats, around-the-world-travellers, or young people volunteering for social services abroad.

Hot soup, art = nice, cosy, winter day

Art is all about expression, and the Host Guest Ghost project is doing exactly that in a refreshingly new manner. On 29 January 2012, they will host an event with the Brazilian artist and writer, Ricardo Basbaum along with the Chef of Cafe Elefanten, Mauro Carinci Cara. Together, they’ll compose a treat for the eyes and taste buds, they say.

This event is in collaboration with the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen who plays ‘host’ for the ‘guests’ Basbaum and Cara. The audience, their expectations, interactions and memories are the ‘ghosts’ from this event.

New students judge the Danes in prejudice test

There are certain qualities that incoming students associate with people from here up north. To most, a typical Dane is tall, blonde, blue-eyed, well-dressed, Viking-like, friendly, eco-conscious, and in love with drinking and biking.

This can be seen from a light-hearted prejudice test carried out by the University Post at the orientation meeting Thursday for new exchange students.

New fines slapped on bike riders in Copenhagen

Copenhagen is said to be heaven for cyclists. But there is trouble after the next traffic light in paradise. Last year a fine for crossing a red was DKK 500. Now the penalty has been doubled, according to police.

And this is not the only wrongdoing that will be enforced with a DKK 1,000 fee. It is even possible to receive a double or triple fee if you’re committing several offenses at once.

Newsroom's choice: Your typical day

Students report that they spend too much time surfing around on the web. In an ideal world, they would much prefer to spend their time reading books, and this includes reading for fun and reading for study.

This is one of the conclusions that can be drawn from a University Post survey of Danish and international students’ daily routines ‘Your typical day’.

The survey first asked students to state how much time they actually spent on typical activities. The survey then asked students to evaluate whether they would prefer to spend more time, or less time, on them.
