Photo Competition: Show us your room

Do you sleep on a huge bed – or a little sofa? Do you have loads of books or a wall of CDs? Do posters or photos decorate your walls?

We are curious! The picture can be of anything, as long as it's your room. Give the picture a name and a caption (a one sentence description of what the photo is) and send it to us for a chance to win NorthSide festival tickets. To ensure authenticity, the photo must, somehow, include the words 'University Post'.

Bottoms up to photo contest prize winners

The University Post chose this photograph by Pavel as the winner of our competition because we think it captures the essential Copenhagen method of transportation in front of a backdrop of contrasting brightness and shadow.

The financial crisis has apparently set off a wave of entrepreneurship. In Denmark, the numbers of student-started companies has gone up, not down, since Europe’s paralysing recession ground the normal amount of jobs for graduates to a halt. Here is how you can be a part of the movement. Create a job of your own, and stop being dependent on a disappointing job market.

This Sunday: Piano virtuoso to play John Cage

Art can often be many things, for different people; Confusing, inspiring, educational, and this Sunday 20 May, the Host Guest Ghost project hopes it will be a meditative experience, a ‘different’ way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The upcoming event is a continuation of the series which the University Post covered earlier this year, (Read the article: Hot soup, art = nice, cosy, winter day) and thus far, the project has spanned five different artistic expressions and host, guest, ghost combinations.

5. Take it easy in Dragør, and then do something really interesting

Dragør is a hidden and often forgotten gem. An old town that seems lost in time, it stands isolated on the end of Amager. Equipped with a beach, cafés and great ice cream it is a safe haven away from the city buzz. It is easy to get there by bike as it is just twelve kilometres from the city centre.

Cosy cafés? Come on! We are guys right?

Menstruation. What is it about the word that makes us all (yes, even the women among us) feel awkward?

At a Feminist Materialisms conference held this past April, visiting researchers Miriam Wistreich and Alexandra Jönsson blended science and art in an attempt to lighten the mood around the dreaded 'time of the month' and explain its significance in gender discourse:

Comment: Education is not just to get a job

Words like ‘critical skills’ and ‘reflexivity’ are just trendy buzz. Instead we need to imagine a just world, argues Amir Susic, a humanities student at the University of Copenhagen
