Ethiopian team fired up before law contest

On the eve of the Copenhagen Competition, the Ethiopian team has revealed its thoughts on preparation and strategy to the University Post.

The theme for this years Copenhagen competition is access to medicine, a big area of interest for the Ethiopian team.

Team members Fekadu Asmamaw and Million Feyissa from Haramaya University have been preparing as much as they can, reading all relevant information on the issue, they say.

A legal team from the University of Copenhagen was not selected to be among the finalists for the Copenhagen Competition law contest in October. This is clear after the referees released results today Tuesday.

Indian law team eager to get started

Before the law event Copenhagen Competition starts Wednesday, the team from Gujarat in India is full of confidence.

»My team has been eagerly looking forward to the competition. International law and medicine are one of my favourite topics, and we have been preparing and discussing intensely,« says Srikanth Hariharan.

He represents a team from Gujarat National Law University (GNLU).

Cape Town wins Copenhagen Competition

The winners were surrounded by a crowd of student reporters and flash lights seconds after the announcement: The University of Cape Town from South Africa have won the 2011 Copenhagen Competition.

The third annual contest at the Faculty of Law brings together delegations from universities around the world to debate on a controversial topic. This year it was all about ‘Access to Food'.

Finalists announced in Copenhagen law contest

It is the teams from Singapore, Cape Town, Yale, and the home team of Copenhagen that will fight it out in the finals of this year's mock law debate Copenhagen Competition.

This is according to the Copenhagen Competition's official website. The third annual Copenhagen Competition at the Faculty of Law brings together delegations from universities around the world to debate on a controversial topic. This year it’s all about ‘Access to Food'. The final round will start at 10:00 today Thursday, with the winner expected to be announced at 13:00.

The four members of the University of Copenhagen team, or 'The Republic of Isles', are happy with the unfolding of the first negotiations.

The team of four girls is taking part in the third annual Copenhagen Competition at the Faculty of Law. The event brings together delegations from several universities around the world to debate on a controversial topic. This year it’s all about ‘Access to Food'.

»It was very good and quite interesting negotiations,« reports Sinja Kongshøj. »We are happy«.

Cape Town: We negotiate for sub-Saharan Africa

Recent droughts across parts of Africa have increased the University of Cape Town team’s desire to find a solution in Copenhagen’s law contest this week. This is according to participants, who talked to the University Post Monday.

Law students from all over the world met for the first time Monday night for a pre-competition dinner in the Copenhagen Competition. They are the eight finalists, selected from 15 teams, for the final oral rounds. Their discussion: to negotiate an agreement on the global problem of access to food.
