Gallery: Intercultural Christmas at LIFE

Days before December students and staff of faculty of Life Sciences met for a Christmas dinner. Taking place Friday November 25th the event included an international dinner and traditional Danish folk dancing. In order to participate, everybody had to bring a dish from their own country – in compensation they received two free drinks.

Thanks to Fernando González for capturing the festive evening! Check out all the different dishes and costumes and get in to the Christmas spirit!

University mourns loss of Kenyan activist

There are few that can herald the same accomplishments as Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai.

After seeing the effects of mass deforestation in Kenya, Mathaai started the Green Belt Movement, a grassroots movement towards promoting reforestation. She became an advocate for social justice, human rights, democracy and peace.

Campus Catwalk: God vs. Statistics

Amazingly, Theology, the smallest faculty at the University, has made it to the semi-finals. But maybe it makes sense.

After all, Pope Benedict recently re-started the red papal shoe fashion. Or just conjure up for yourselves images of Mother Theresa and Martin Luther.

Social Sciences are focussed on empirical observation. This of course also goes for making sure colours combine well in the mirror in the morning.

Grand reopening of student café

While some of us slept, a team of 10 students and 2 architects busied themselves preparing the Faculty of Life Sciences’ student-owned and run »Café Væksthuset« (Danish for »Café Greenhouse«) for its spring opening on Monday, 28 March.

The final preparations are in addition to a complete renovation of the four year old café. The work party built, painted and modified new and old furniture, giving a new face to the ever-popular gastronomic institution.

Campus Catwalk: Comfortably chic vs. computer cute

The University Post's Campus Catwalk series enters its second, semi-final round, with Science, Humanities, Social Sciences and a surprisingly 'divine' Theology still floating over the waters.

Science broke the Law with 72 per cent over 28 per cent, consciousness transcended the body as Humanities beat Health with 61 over 39, while Social scientists gave Pharma students a bit of their own medicine with 70 over 30.

Biggest surprise for our appearance analysts was the small Faculty of Theology, which at the cut-off time had transcended Life Sciences with 51 over 49 per cent.
