Newly arrived international students are, once again, roaming Copenhagen’s wintry campus areas. Though overwhelmed and baffled, they’ve come here with fresh fashion inspiration from far-away nooks and corners all over the world. The University Post attended University of Copenhagen’s Orientation Event for newcomers to find out what the cat’s dragged in this time.

New international students from throughout the world were brought together for an orientation meeting at Frederiksberg campus, the new Science faculty. The temperature outside was minus 10 degrees Celsius, but less than 50 per cent of the students present at the meeting answered that this was the coldest weather they’d ever experienced. Check out our footage, and see more photos on our facebook page here.

Sasha Mehlhase, a post doc from the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen has spent approximately 81 hours of work end EURO 2,000 to build a model of CERN's Large Hadron Collider's Atlas detector...out of LEGO bricks. All in all 9,500 LEGO brics were used on the model which is made in a 1:50 scale. His idea is to use the model for alternative learning - fx on events such as the Culture Night in Copenhagen. Sasha Mehlhase is currently working on a manual for construction of his model, so it can be reproduced.

Gallery: Your typical day. The graphs

In the University Post survey 'your typical day' we asked Danish and international students about their daily routines.

The survey first asked students to state how much time they actually spent on typical activities. The survey then asked students to evaluate whether they would prefer to spend more time, or less time, on them.

Gallery: Intercultural Christmas at LIFE

Days before December students and staff of faculty of Life Sciences met for a Christmas dinner. Taking place Friday November 25th the event included an international dinner and traditional Danish folk dancing. In order to participate, everybody had to bring a dish from their own country – in compensation they received two free drinks.

Thanks to Fernando González for capturing the festive evening! Check out all the different dishes and costumes and get in to the Christmas spirit!

University of Copenhagen just held its annual bash celebrating all the hotshot scientists, professors, scandals, students, and events of the year. The commemoration was kickstarted with a formal event at the Ceremonial Hall by Frue Plads. After the compulsory formalities the real party moved to Koncerthuset in DR-Byen. Here, people strode around in long gowns and tuxedoes, while light projections on the inside and outside of the building welcomed the many fancy guests. Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dickow entertained with her mellow guitar music.

War of the Wardrobes: Faculty of Law

After a ceasefire in the War of the Wardrobes, the University Post is back in the battlefield where you get to browse through the action and vote for the victor!

This time we sent a reporter to the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen. A strict courtroom dress code is awaiting many of these students once they are done. But are they already suited up?

Fashion and law have often been connected. Take f.ex. TV-series such as Ally McBeal and the infamous Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde. Can the law students of the University of Copenhagen match up to our TV expectations?

University Post got a tip that the cleaning staff of City Campus were having fun dancing in the basements after work. We sent two reporters to find out why and how they came up with such an idea.

What we discovered were some pretty amazing dancers: old, and young, men, and women. All of them colleagues, friends, strong legged, out going, and unbelievably young at heart. Dancing to up beat music inspired by African kuduro, Indian bollywood, and Brazilian samba, the cleaners have made a decision to improve their health.

The Abbey of Æbelholt was founded in 1170-75 on the verge of Gribskov forest. Known for its medical expertise, it functioned a bit like a hospital right up until the upheavals of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s.

For ten years, from 1941 to 1950, Vilhelm Møller-Christensen, a medical doctor and professor in medical history at the University of Copenhagen and his medical students spent their summers meticulously excavating the cemeteries at Æbelholt. In all nearly 1,000 skeletons were found.
