Viking class tours Roskilde ancient ships

Students from 'The Vikings and Europe' intensive course took a field trip to the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde on Saturday.

They got a closer look at ancient Viking longboats, dressed up as Vikings and, of course, checked out the gift shop! The exhibition tells the story of the ships and and describes the lives of the Vikings in the Nordic countries.

Hieroglyphs representing Egyptian gods on temple walls show an intimate knowledge of wild animals' behaviour and ecology.

Christian Leitz, Professor of Egyptology at the University of Tübingen, presented his research to a group of scholars at the Carsten Niebuhr Institute, University of Copenhagen on 23 February. This is a selection of his slides (in German).
