Food processing looks nice when it is shown like this
Representatives from the Banares Hindu University (BHU) from Varanasi, India are to visit Copenhagen to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and agreement with the university on Friday 4 December, putting the EU-funded East West Food Project into action.
This is according to the Indian news site, Times of India.
The MoU is promoting the exchange of researchers and students between 2010 and 2013, and starting two joint PhD courses in ‘Dietary Food Habits in East and West’ and ‘Entrepreneurship Development through Food Processing’, along with Wageningen University (The Netherlands) and Anna University (Chennai, India).
The collaboration includes funding for the development of a food processing pilot plant at the BHU, with assistance from Danish and Dutch scientists. For this purpose, BHU staff and students have a maximum of 23 months of training in the labs of the U of C and Wageningen University.
In exchange, scientists from the U of C and Wageningen University will work on indigenous milk products of India, and try to learn details of Indian food culture.
Vice-chancellor of the BHU, Professor DP Singh, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Science, Professor SR Singh and Professor Alok Jha, Coordinator at the Centre of Food Science and Technology will be in Denmark from 1 December to 5 December.
There are between 30,000 and 50,000 animals at the Faculty of Health Sciences, all used for experiments. Our Danish colleagues in the Universitetsavisen were given an exclusive tour of the facilities
