Former Copenhagen postdoc wins Nobel physics prize

Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov shared the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics for their research on graphene

Andre Geim, a former University of Copenhagen researcher, has won the Nobel Prize in Physics.

He and Konstantin Novoselov from the University of Manchester have been awarded for their researches on graphene, a one-atom-thick sheet of carbon atoms. Graphene is considered one of the most promising materials in nanotechnolgy and nanophysics.

In the early 90s, Andre Geim had one of his three postdocs at the University of Copenhagen, and he wrote more than 40 papers in collaboration with researchers of the Niels Bohr Institute.
