Rector Ralf Hemmingsen, welcomes international students at the Matriculation Ceremony
Record numbers of exchange students crowded into the University of Copenhagen Ceremonial Hall Wednesday for the Matriculation Ceremony.
Dressed in his traditional robes of office, Rector Ralf Hemmingsen pointed out that Copenhagen was 'the place to be' . He made reference to the city playing host to the upcoming international climate conference, and pointed to several other global events this year.
After a Ceremonial Hall fanfare from the Student Choral Society, students filed past the rector, who shook the hundreds of extended hands. Festivities continued in the Lindegården yard next door, to the tunes of more multi-layered polyphony from the choral society and the MI22 Big Band.
