Don’t wait around for the perfect Danish guy. Take initiative in the name of love, says Ananya from India.

Don’t be fooled by the cool, calm exterior. Danish guys are hot on the inside, says Ananya from India

Say hello to Martin, a typical 24-year-old Danish guy. Martin is tall, blonde and has a lovely physique. He has gorgeous deep blue eyes and a kind smile. He is intelligent, witty and generally fun to hang out with. He speaks English fluently, although sometimes with a Danish slur that often needs getting used to.

In short, he is every woman’s dream.

Misunderstood the vibes

My friends and I decided to go out to a party at University on a Friday night. This is when I first met Martin and we had an amazing time. He seemed quite into me at the party, but wait, the next morning when I looked over to wave and say hello, he quickly looked away.

I felt offended and walked away. We met again at another party, and this time I wasn’t ignored. He lavished me with attention and I waited hopelessly for him to ask me out on a date. It didn’t happen and I went home disappointed.

Perhaps I misunderstood the ‘vibes?’ Well, there went Martin out of my life anyway!

But ten months later

We met again. He gave me a shy smile this time.

As the night gradually progressed I learned a lot of new things. I found that he’s writing his thesis on something quite interesting (It’s a vague memory now), he plays the guitar exceedingly well, he is a dog person (he won my heart with that) and that he’s had a crush on me since forever!

Summing up a Danish guy

It sounds unbelievable to a Frenchman or a Brit that men can actually be shy.

I have met so many men over the years; the French who charm you with their accent and very persuasively let you believe that it is you that they have fallen in love with, or the Italians who sometimes get dangerously close to prove their unfaltering adulation or the Brits who use their polite manners and chivalry to win you over.

But the Danish man is one of a kind. He’s a beautiful species that is painfully shy and gets an enormous amount of courage after only six øls.

Every rose has its thorns

However, like most Martins, he will be 10 months too late.

So if you’ve found your dream Martin ladies, either be prepared to wait for those months to get him to ask you out, or beat him to it and ask him out yourself. Odds are that he is into you and is relieved that you did first. So all the single ladies out there go out and find your Martins and whisk him away before anyone else does!

As for Martin and me, sadly we never made it to our first date. I am currently dating a Brit now.

sadly true :-(

the best thing to do is date a Dane who was for some time abroad. they seem to be a little more normal and outgoing(before the sixth beer) ;-)
