Medical students not satisfied with budget cutbacks
The symbolism was as thick and sticky as coagulated blood as a group of students camped out on the pavement in front of the Ministry of Science and Education Monday 7 September.
Arms were chopped off, intestines cut out, screams screamed - and the slogans chanted: »You amputate our education - invest in the future.«
The blood bath was staged by a group from the University of Copenhagen student council. The point was to make people aware of the consequences of cutbacks in the medicine department.
»For years the government has cut back on the study of medicine at the university, and the government budget proposal for 2010 is not turning this around,« says spokesperson Ida Buhl.
